As
every year in the university, there is a traditional event organized by second-year
students from every program to receive freshmen. This is a special instance to
meet, share and have fun with all of them, who are going to be our classmates
and future colleagues. This huge event is well known as “mechoneo”.
This
year, my second-year classmates of English program and I organized several activities
for this special day starting with “Café Convers”, which is a reception where
classmates can talk and eat; and different games in which freshmen have to find
their respective godparents. Then, it concluded with a ride to “Jardín Botánico”
where there were many fun activities.
One of
the most significant and special moment of the “mechoneo” was the
godparent-godchild meeting. There, all the freshmen were given a half of their
portrait shots and they had to find the other half of the photograph, which was
with their respective parents. Here is when we wanted to show them how
important they are and that we want to be a strong support for them.
I personally
think that this event was very successful and it was necessary for the union of
all the English program’s students, which makes it not only a big group of
colleagues, but friends for life.
